Hidden Treasure

By Mark Jackson

Granite Falls, NC {June 7th, 2009} - My wife and I have never seen the Old Mill Pond Dam so we finally decided to go see it.  As we were walking down the road to the dam we started to hear the rush of water.  The sound kept getting louder and louder.  When we finally reached the dam, we were completely surprised by what we found.  We had no idea that we would find something so dramatic.  The dam, falls, and creek below are truly a hidden treasure...you are in store for a treat if you have never seen this.

If you decide to make a visit to the dam, you should stop by the Granite Falls History and Transportation Museum too.  This museum is housed in Andrew Baird's former residence.  It is open to the public on Saturdays 10am - 4pm and Sundays 2pm - 4pm.
